The 90's belonged to street savvy R&B crooners who turned Tommy Hilfiger into the first white designer with "street credibility." But nobody rocked a pair of size 34 jeans like the late great Aaliyah Houghton...
Even after her tragic death, her legacy and spirit still lives on in trendy streetwear worn by fashionistas everywhere right now and the current princess of R&B, Rihanna. Drake photoshopped the singer's face in a photo with him which can be seen as really admirable and cute or really creepy.
I can imagine why everyone loved...still loves Aaliyah, but I have my own reasons. I liked her music, but I loved her personality even more. She was the epitome of cool. Naturally beautiful and talented, she never was anything less than humble. I'm really awkward in photographs so what stood out the most to me is how relaxed she looked in them. Like, "I'm just taking it all in." I think if she were still alive she would still be just, "taking it all in." So I will be brief on the anniversary her death, and give a little tribute to her by sharing a few Aaliyah inspired streetwear looks of moment. R.I.P. Aaliyah. Gone, but clearly not forgotten.
